I have tried a whole lot detoxes the last several years — none of them have really felt too awesome for me. Some required little or no exercising because frankly you were just drinking tea for 3 days straight; some required a lot of prep to get your drinks ready; and some basically had you stuck in the bathroom for a week (not pretty but true!). I finally found a good compromise in what I refer to as a ‘modified detox’ with this plan below!
I am a big fan of smoothies, so I was pumped when I found these options to fit in this detox. The full detox is just the smoothies and some tea, but you’ll see why it’s modified when you see the plan:
THE DAY PLAN:
Detox tea: green tea with lemon (and take your probiotic vitamin!)
Morning drink: 1 cup water, 1 tbsp. flax seed (I do chia too), 1 cup raspberries, 1/2 - 1 banana, pinch of spinach, 1 tbsp. almond butter, 2 tsp lemon, 1 tbsp. collagen peptides
Mid-morning snack: cup of fruit (typically raspberries, strawberries, or grapes)
Lunch drink: 3 celery stalks, 1 small cucumber, 1 cup kale, 1/2 green apple, 1/2 lime, 1 tbsp. coconut oil, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1 cup pineapple
Mid-day snack: cup of nuts (primarily almond)
Dinner drink: 1/2 cup mango, 1 cup blueberries, 1 1/2 cup coconut water, 1 cup kale, 1 tbsp. lemon, 1/2 avocado, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tbsp. flax seeds
Light after dinner dessert: this way be a yogurt, another cup of fruit, or a popsicle
End with a detox bath: 2 cups Epsom salt and essential oil soak (8-12 minutes)
I follow this for 3-4 days, and for me it’s a perfect combination to still allow me to get regular exercise in, and still feel refreshed and replenished after it’s all done. The best part - the drinks are delicious! Hope this helps anybody out there looking for a modified detox :)
